St. Luke's Sunday School Lent Fundraiser- The Heifer Project
For five weeks during Lent, St. Luke's Sunday School classes will be fundraising for the Heifer Project. Heifer International works with communities to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. Heifer does this by providing appropriate livestock, training and related services to communities of small-scale farmers worldwide.
Our children are so excited about this! In Sunday School, they will be reading children's books about how the Heifer Project has changed lives around the world, and the kids will choose how they want to spend the money that is raised for the project.
As a member of their faith community, how can you help the kids give chickens, cows, goats and more to families in need around the world?
1. SPONSOR A CHILD’S READ-A-THON
· Sign up to donate any amount (your choice) of $ for every book that a student reads! Each week, we will send you information about what books the child read, your donation will go into their fundraising!
· Can either be for one specific child, or just a general sponsorship, which will mean the average number of books the participating children read each week.
· Sign-up sheets will be available March 1.
2. VOLUNTEER TO READ
· Volunteer to read a Heifer Project children’s book to the kids during Sunday School to educate them about the impact they can have. Our Sunday School teachers are WONDERFUL, but we think it’s important that our children get to interact with and learn from a variety of parishioners!
3. MAKE A DONATION
· Write a check and put “Heifer” in the memo.
