Caring for God's creation is one expression of loving God and loving our neighbors. At St. Luke's we believe faithful stewardship includes caring for the land, reducing our environmental impact, creating spaces for prayer and reflection, and serving our community through practical action.
Whether you're passionate about native plants, gardening, energy conservation, environmental justice, education, or simply enjoying God's creation, there’s a place for you in this ministry.

What We're Doing Today…
The Creation Care Team is actively working to care for our church property, reduce our environmental impact, and create welcoming outdoor spaces for our congregation and the wider community. Our current projects include:
• Expanding native plant and pollinator gardens
• Replacing sections of turf with drought-tolerant Colorado native plants
• Creating a contemplative outdoor space for prayer and reflection
• Installing educational signs
• Hosting clothing swaps that keep usable items out of landfills while serving our community
• Organizing garden workdays and volunteer events
• Supporting Bike to Church Day and other community activities
• Continuing to improve the church's energy efficiency through lighting, HVAC, and solar projects
These projects continue to evolve as volunteers, community partners, and grant opportunities help us expand our work.
Our Progress
In just a few years, the ministry has made significant progress:
• Our Energy Star building performance score has improved by nearly 69% since our original benchmark.
• Our greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by nearly 25%.
• Multiple grants have helped fund native landscaping, water conservation, and educational improvements.
• Volunteers continue to expand pollinator habitat, improve outdoor gathering spaces, and care for the church grounds.
