Sing Peace Into the World

  • Sanctuary, St. Luke's Church 2000 Stover Street Fort Collins, CO, 80525 United States (map)

We invite you to gather with us on Wednesday, September 21 at 7:00pm to observe the International Day of Peace with a meditative Taizé prayer service.

Taizé Chanting

"Singing is one of the most essential elements of worship. Short songs, repeated again and again, give it a meditative character. Using just a few words they express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind. As the words are sung over many times, this reality gradually penetrates the whole being. Meditative singing thus becomes a way of listening to God. It allows everyone to take part in a time of prayer together and to remain together in attentive waiting on God, without having to fix the length of time too exactly." More: Taizé Chanting

International Day of Prayer for Peace

This day is observed by the United Nations as a day to pause and pray, and to be inspired to seek an end to violence throughout our hurting world. We will draw from a meditative liturgy for the day adapted from a service in the UK that offers both a call to prayer and a call to action. We invite all in Fort Collins to attend in this timely prayer service, work to overcome pervasive violence and strive to be effective peacemakers in our community.
