The seventh annual Organ Week, a summer organ festival presented by the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Colorado State University, takes place June 17—20 with concerts and special events held at the University Center for the Arts, First United Methodist Church, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fort Collins.
The 2019 edition features the Canadian Brass and world-renowned organists performing major solo and collaborative works including a performance by CSU’s Joel Bacon.
Patrons who have enjoyed Joel Bacon’s performances of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations for harpsichord will be thrilled to hear the infamous thirty-two section piece performed on the Lawrence Phelps organ at St. Luke’s on Monday, June 17 at 7:30pm.
Dr. Bacon holds the Stewart and Sheron Golden Chair in Organ and Liturgical Studies, the first endowed chair in the College of Liberal Arts at Colorado State University.
The event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering to support the restoration of the Phelps Organ will be taken during the event.
Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
