St. Luke’s New Vestry 2021
Jan Parker – Senior Warden
My name is Jana Parker. My husband, Ken, and I have been members of St. Luke’s for 36 years. We raised our two Daughters, Katy and Lisa, in the Church to give them a solid, spiritual foundation. Ken and I love to travel, hopefully soon again, and enjoy travelling to our beautiful Colorado mountains, especially Breckenridge. We visit Breckenridge often and enjoy the “change of scene” it offers.
Most of you know me as Altar Guild Directress. I am proud to say that we have a very active Ministry as our “Ladies” serve monthly to prepare our lovely Sanctuary for services. Of course, with the pandemic, this has looked much different!
This will be my 4th year on Vestry, and I am happy to be able to serve as Senior Warden. 2021 will still have its challenges but rest assured we have a strong Vestry representation and even stronger leadership in Mother Krista. I am very encouraged by the strength of our St. Luke’s community and know that we are growing, even during a pandemic! When we are able to be back in our lovely Church, I look forward to seeing you all again!
Delight Hockman – Co-Junior Warden
Delight and her husband have two adult children and five grandchildren. They have lived in Fort Collins since 2015. Delight is a middle school principal. I was raised in the Episcopal church. As an adult I spent some time in other churches, but I knew from the first time I visited St. Luke’s that I was home. She is a member of the choir and enjoys gardening and sewing.
Brian Cooke - Clerk
A lifelong Episcopalian, Brian has been a member of churches in Pennsylvania, San Francisco, Wyoming and New York. He and his daughter Lily began attending St. Luke's in early 2010. Brian has participated in life at St. Luke's via Sunday School teaching, building/grounds, Family Housing Network, the stewardship committee, the website team, the vestry, writing and editing the church newsletter, and as a youth group chaperone.
Jacob Rahme
Hello! My name is Jacob Rahme. I moved to Fort Collins in 2018 from the Midwest after graduating law school and joined St. Luke’s almost immediately! My (now fiancée) Katherine found it and we started coming every week during the big transition in between permanent priests. It was wonderful being able to join such a lovely community so soon after moving to a new place. I work as an in-house attorney for a small company here in Northern Colorado. I enjoy cooking, baking, hiking, watching new TV shows, hanging out with our wonderful friends from St. Luke’s (when we’re not in a global pandemic), and spending time with my lovely fiancée and our cat. I grew up Catholic but started drifting away from Catholicism throughout law school due to what I felt was a very exclusive message and divisive attitude toward many groups of people.
Over the past two-and-a-half years, I have seen an amazing and inspiring growth in St. Luke’s. Even through a global pandemic, our church, led by Mother Krista and the wonderful staff at St Luke’s, has created a warm and welcoming place for everyone. I would be honored to be a vestry member to continue this welcoming message, further assist the church in its growth, and help it welcome more members and get the word out to younger people who don’t yet know that St. Luke’s is their home too!”
Melissa Bishop
I’m Melissa Bishop. My family and I have been attending St. Luke’s since August 2019 right after we moved to Fort Collins from Arlington, VA. I am a lifelong Episcopalian, as well as a PK (preacher’s kid)—my mom is an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of Chicago and her husband, my step-father, is a retired priest. I grew up in Atlanta, GA, and was an active member of my church youth group and youth choirs. I went to Bloomington, IN, for college where I studied music at Indiana University and met my husband Stan Curtis. After grad school and living in Europe for four years, we joined the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, DC, and lived in Arlington, VA, for over 20 years. We attended St. George’s Episcopal Church in Arlington during that time.
We have two sons—Owen, who is 16, and Felix, who is 20. Stan teaches trumpet at CSU and I am a professional dog trainer. You’ve likely seen and heard Stan, Owen and me in the choir at St. Luke’s. I am so grateful we’ve been able to continue attending St. Luke’s online during the pandemic, and especially loved the Lessons and Carols service and the Christmas Eve service (including the wonderful children’s pageant). I look forward to serving on the vestry.
John Pippen
John Pippen is a musicologist at Colorado State University, and he researches new classical music in Chicago. John and his wife Abby have been residents of Fort Collins and members of St. Luke's since 2016. Since then, he has served as a reader, occasional singer, and been active in the Church's reading groups. An avid athlete, John enjoys running around town and in the mountains.
Bob Larson
My wife Linda and I have been members of St. Luke’s since 1992. We have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. I have served several terms on the vestry through the years including Jr and Sr warden. Currently, I am on the finance and endowment committee, and a facilitator of the small group, Bible Buddies, as well as delivering communion wafers to those who are shut in and serving as a sub-deacon.
