Advent Gatherings
Advent Compline Night Prayer Every Tuesday - 8:30pm on Zoom
Members of our St. Luke’s community have been enjoying online Compline Night Prayers every Tuesday over the last couple of months. During Advent, our prayers will focus on finding the light from within the darkness and we will light an Advent Wreath. You may want to light your own Advent wreath or another candle during this time as we observe the holy season together. CLICK HERE FOR ZOOM LINK

Lessons & Carols with Bishop Kym
One of the most beautiful liturgies that we have inherited from the Anglican Tradition is the Service of Lessons and Carols. During Lessons and Carols we hear the stories of salvation right up to Jesus’ birth. The stories are both read aloud and sung. This year, because of COVID, we will begin the service with lessons and musical offerings from our choir indoors. Our bishop will be with us and she will preach. Then we will move out to the lawn for the remainder of the service so that we may all sing some Advent Carols safely. After the service we will have fire pits set up outside for making s’mores and staying warm. Pizza will be available for lunch. And to add to the excitement of the day, our Bishop will be with us and we will celebrate the coming of Christ together.
Las Posadas - Searching for the Inn
An Advent Experience based in the Latin America tradition of Las Posadas
Sunday December 19th - 4:00pm Meet in Old Town Square
Las Posadas is a Latin American tradition during which Christians go on walks in solidarity with Mary and Joseph as they look for room at the inn for Jesus’ birth. During this procession, Christians go on long walks often in the cold, stopping along the way to hear scripture, pray and sing. Sometimes they carry statues of Joseph, Mary or the baby Jesus, or they dress up as the Holy Family. While they walk, typically in the cold of night, the Christians find solidarity with people in their local communities, such as the homeless, who have nowhere to rest their heads.
Inspired by Latin American Christians, we will take part in a simplified Searching for the Inn experience on December 19th. This year we will walk in procession around Old Town Fort Collins, stopping periodically on the way to pray and remember the people in our community, especially the refugees and the homeless, who have nowhere to rest their heads. We will walk with candles that represent Christ’s light guiding our way and sing some songs too. Donations to Lutheran Family Services’ refugee resettlement program will be collected at the end of the service.
