Contemplative Prayer Group

Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm beginning February 23rd on Zoom

Many of us at St. Luke’s are pursuing a deeper, more frequent spiritual awareness or are seeking a more mystical sensitivity for the first time. There are many paths to heightened spiritual awareness. We Episcopalians are well-versed in common prayer, and many of us pursue a private devotional path as well. As telescopes and microscopes enhance different aspects of our view of the physical world, varied spiritual disciplines enable us to appreciate the spiritual world more fully. In addition to prayer there are meditations, fasting, music, and yoga, for a few examples.

Contemplative Prayer is a way of sitting quietly, letting the noise and stress of daily life fall away. In this time we are able to hear the still small voice in our hearts. Contemplative Prayer groups have been meeting at St. Luke’s for about five years.

This new Lenten group will be our first Contemplative Prayer group on-line and is a wonderful way to deepen faith. We will begin with check-ins and a few moments of silent prayer, then discuss the devotional book Bridges to Contemplative Living with Thomas Merton.
