Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
This year, the youth mission trip fundraiser will be hosted by St. Paul's at Trinity, and include FOUR churches: St. Luke's, St. Paul's, Trinity Lutheran, and Mary of Magdala.
Trinity Lutheran is half a mile (one minute by car) from St. Luke's. Please make a point of attending this fun evening, and help support a meaningful experience for our youth!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is a tradition that has been around for many years. It is based on the ancient shriving tradition where Christians would confess their sins and receive absolution prior to the start of Lent. Lent is a time of abstinence, so in preparation for this period of time, people used up all their "fat" and goodies in order to prepare for the Lenten season. This is where the term "Fat Tuesday" comes from and eating pancakes is a meal that will incorporate all those fatty foods of eggs, butter, milk and, of course, syrup.
Traditionally Shrove Tuesday has become a time to celebrate before the the solemnness that envelopes the time of Lent. We use this wonderful celebration as a fundraiser for the annual Youth Mission Trip. This year we will hold our Shrove Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran and our celebration will include youth from Trinity, Mary of Magdala, St. Luke's and St. Paul's coming together to have fun, eat hardy, and celebrate the end of ordinary time and beginning of Lent.
Suggested donation is $5.00 per person.
