The spiritual development of our children and teens is a priority at St. Luke's Church. At each baptism we commit to seeing that our children are "brought up in the Christian faith and life" and that we will help them to "grow into the full stature of Christ." These are promises made at each and every baptism. (See page 302 in the Book of Common Prayer.)
The important thing to remember is that this is a community effort. It involves us all as a church family. At the same time it begins with the parents of our St. Luke's children and youth.
On Sunday, April 15, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. we will host a family gathering for all St. Luke's parents. Personal invitations will soon go out. The purpose is to get parents together at one place and time to have generative conversations about how we can best commit ourselves to building faithful families.
Serendipitously, this gathering will coincide with our bake sale to support our summer Youth Group Mission Trip. Please note that although the intention is to get the parents together, anyone who is interested in being involved. So save the date. More details to come. ~Fr. Abshire
