The advent of social media has forever changed what it means to participate and join with others in families, in the community, and in the Church.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn and many other platforms have created a wealth of new ways to converse, share content and deepen relationships with others, both locally and around the world. How are you sharing your faith in the digital age?
Our world has been transformed through inspiring advances in technology. Interacting digitally through social media has been embraced by people of every generation around the world. Similarly, the use of social media has been embraced by people within the Church as a means of building community and sharing our faith.
Jesus reminded his disciples, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20). Building, nurturing and sustaining relationships in the digital world has the potential to multiply exponentially our ability to connect with other people, build deepening relationships and proclaim the gospel. The Episcopal Church will observe Social Media Sunday on September 24, inviting the faithful everywhere to learn ways to share their faith through social media.
Join me on Sunday, September 24 at 9:30am for a Social Media Lab -- an active session of engaging our Christian faith reflecting, sharing and learning how we can bring our faith actively into the realm of social media. This will be a time to proclaim our faith active effectively through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media platforms. Bring your smartphones, tablets and laptops to this session where we will post, tweet and share in real time!
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:15)
This fall, join us in observing Social Media Sunday at St. Luke’s to proclaim the Light of Christ in our families, our community, and beyond. Share God's love and be the church.
Peace to you,
