Instead of a mere "resolution" for the New Year, consider committing to a New Year's spiritual revolution.
How? It's simple: establish a daily practice.
A spiritual practice can involve almost any activity as long as it is done with intention, reverence, and inner calmness. Prayer and meditation are well-known practices.
But one can take something like gardening, going for a walk, or having a conversation with another person and make that into a practice. The key is that your practice be daily and for a specific, limited period of time (five to thirty minutes).
A daily practice will not only enhance your worship life and relationship with others, it will also enable you to become increasingly receptive to divine guidance.

practice for the New Year.
