Jesus commanded us to "let the children come" and I am pleased to announce that the Vestry voted at its last meeting to renew its commitment to our preschool. The St. Luke’s Preschool is in its 51st year, and is thus one of the oldest preschools in Fort Collins.
Re-committing to the preschool entails seeing it as an outreach ministry to the larger community; integrating its finances and accounting into that of St. Luke's Church; Fr. Abshire engaging the children on a regular basis (currently he is leading sing-alongs with his guitar -- such classics as "This Little Light of Mine" and "Johnny Appleseed"); and finding ways for the school community and St. Luke's parishioners to fellowship together.
The philosophy of the St. Luke's Preschool is to provide a loving atmosphere that nurtures the development of a positive sense of self in each child. The teachers help the children gain self-confidence in all areas of development -- social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual -- through a variety of exploring, discovering, and fun activities. Enrollment this year is full, 54 students.
Many thanks to our teaching staff: Lia Comfort, Nancy Singleton, and Jackie Harrison.
